Nghe An, Prime Location for Integrated Logistics and Transport in Vietnam 

Vinh International Airport

Vinh International Airport is managed by Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV). The airport was recently expanded and has the capacity of 3 million passengers per year. There are 28 check-in counter and 4 boarding gates. In 2014 Vinh International Airport handled 2,000,000 passengers per year and 29,000 tons of cargo goods with domestic flights to Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Lat, Nha Trang, Pleiku, Buon Ma Thuot and international Flights. WHA Industrial Zone- Nghe An is located only 18 kilometers north of Vinh International Airport via highway 1A.

 
 

Roadways

Linking with Hanoi and the south, the highway 1A, National Road 15 and Ho Chi Ming Highway are the North-South main commuter route. While National Road 7, 46 and 48 link the West routes to Laos where there are 4 international border gates are located. Currently, road improvement are carried out to improve the logistics capacity.  The Trans-Asia road runs from Laos through Thanh Thuy border gate to Cua Lo seaport and Dong Hoi seaport. Driving from Hanoi to Nghe An is about 297 kilometers and will take approximately 5 hours 30 minutes. New toll ways connecting Vinh City, passing WHA Industrial Zone - Nghe An to Hanoi and major ports (by 2020).

 

Vinh Railway Station

Vinh railway is operated by Vietnam Railways (VNR) Vietnam’s rail network consists of seven main routes connecting 35 provinces through a number of special terrains. Being the third largest passenger and cargo station, Vinh railway station is one of the main railway stations on the North-South Railway route.

Vinh railway station is also ranked as the 1st Grade Station by strategic location, passenger capacity and goods flow.

There are four daily trains depart Vinh City to Hanoi, which will take 6 hours. Cabins are air-conditioner and there are four types of seating from hard seat, soft seat, hard berth and soft berth.  

The new plan for High Speed Train from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh city with one major station close to WHA Industrial Zone - Nghe An will enhance logistics flow of goods and raw materials

 

North-South Express Railway

The new North-South Express Railway is a forthcoming express railway under plan in Vietnam. The Express railway will start from Hanoi through Nghe An and will terminate at Ho Chi Ming City. The total distance of the journey will be 1,570 kilometers (980 mi). The construction are divided into sections, starting  with section which has greater transport demand such as Hanoi-Vinh and Ho Chi Minh City-Nha Trang.

 

Seaports

One of Nghe An great benefits is the proximity to waterway. There are three exiting ports as well as two deep seaport under development projects.

 

Vissai Port (Official name: Loc An International Port) : 3,000 - 70,000 DWT

Vissai Port is being built by the Song Lam Cement Joint Stock Company to serve the transportation of cement, clinker and coal.  Covering the total planning area of 407.1 hectares, Vissai Seaport will have two international terminals and a wharf with the capacity to serve ensure the ships with a tonnage of 3,000 - 70,000 DWT berth.

 

The DKC Petroleum Depot.

The DKC Petroleum Depot has a capacity of 86,000 cubic meters with a 1.5 km long private wharf system, able to receiving vessels of between 2 and 3 thousand tons. This port will handle the shipment of gasoline and oil once it is put into operation.

 

Cua Lo International Deep Seaport: 50,000 – 100,000 DWT (by 2020)

Cua Lo International Deep Seaport is currently under construction to accommodate vessels  of 30,000  -  100,000 DWT. The wharf is planned to be 3,260 m, the length of the channel is 6km, the breakwater is 2,550m long, the wall is 1.510m long. Upon completion Cua Lo International Deep Seaport will serve the future import and export activities of Nghe An and the North Central Region to the northern provinces of Thailand and Laos.

 

Cua Lo Port: 10,000 – 30,000 DWT

Located 15 km from Vinh city and on the delta of Song Cam River and Gulf of Tokin, it is the strategic location for international goods trading transaction, particularly for trans-shipment goods between Lao PDR and East North of Thailand . Cau Lo Port  has the capacity to handle at least 12 million tons of cargoes annually. Cua Lo port has a total area of 32 ha, having 04 wharves with a total length of 656m; anchor zone with depth is 7.5m, the depth of flow is 5.5m.

WHA Industrial Zone-Nghe An is well-connected to Cua Lo Port, it is only 7 kilometers.

 

Dong Hoi Deep Seaport: 30,000 – 50,000 DWT (by 2020)

Dong Hoi Deep Seaport, located in Quynh Luu district of Nghe An, is constructed and managed by Vicem Hoang Mai Cement Joint Stock Company. The wharf serves for shipment of steel mill, cement and construction materials. The Thanh Thanh Dat Co., Ltd. is building a connecting road to Dong Hoi Port to  and plans to inaugurate a wharf for 30,000 DWT vessels at this port in 2020.
